WHAT IS BABY TEETH?
Baby Teeth Film Festival is a collective operation based in Brooklyn, New York. It was
founded in 2021 with the intention of creating a space where trans people are freed
from the burden of producing only trans narratives. It primarily takes the form of an
annual series of programming for trans, non-binary and gender-expansive filmmakers
to showcase work that is not solely about their experience as trans and/or gender
expansive people, and is not limited by genre. We have included animated, experimental, documentary, narrative, and many other sub-genres in our festival lineup.
Its greatest feat is being executed by a team of gender-expansive volunteers –
Baby Teeth welcomes anyone who wants to get hands on with executing a film festival to
join us, and get firsthand experience putting on a full evening of in-person
programming. For some contributing filmmakers, this is their first time seeing their
work on a big screen. We have also garnered international attention and submissions
from seasoned filmmakers. From screening each submission, all the way to booking
a venue, Baby Teeth is a team effort grown by and for the trans community.
